Certifications and Trainings

Certificate of Clinical Competence

Briana is a Certificate of Clinical Competence holder. This certification is granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. It is a nationally recognized professional credential that represents a level of excellence in the field of Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) - asha.org

PROMPT Level II

Briana is trained at the intermediate level of PROMPT and is currently conducting a formal case study for full PROMPT level III certification. PROMPT stands for Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets. It is a unique articulation therapy in which the therapist uses tactile methods to provide oral cues for increased intelligibility. PROMPT trained speech therapists are divided into three levels, PROMPT level I trained, PROMPT level II trained and PROMPT certified, the latter being the level of mastery.

Wilson Reading Program Level I

Briana is trained at the introductory level of The Wilson reading program. This is a very structured enhancement and instruction program for beginners who wish to master reading early and adults who want to strengthen their skills.

More About your therapist...

Briana has a passion for helping school aged children through young adults. Her experience working at elementary schools in Brooklyn and Queens, and later at high schools in the Bronx kindled the desire in her to work with children at the ages when they begin to notice that their speech is different, or that they are struggling with reading. Briana feels that this awareness is the reason why establishing support systems outside of therapy is such an integral part of her client's success.
